So God sends the Holy Spirit to stir up their memory and give them supernatural understanding in order to write God’s Word for future generations. They had to rely of God to help them remember what Jesus told them. Back in their day they didn’t have recorders or audio files to play back Jesus’ sayings. The first fulfillment of this promise is seen when these Apostles begin to write the New Testament. A few verses before, Jesus said ask Me and I’ll ask the Father and He will send the Holy Spirit to be with you. Jesus promises to send them another Helper much like Himself. Let’s dig a little deeper today to see and understand what it is Jesus is speaking about here. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Rise, let us go from here.Ģ5 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.

28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 27 Peace I leave with you my peace I give to you. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word which comes from God…Ģ5 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. Lasting peace can only be found in one place…Jesus Christ We might try to find it in many different places, from bank accounts to houses to even insurance policies. We are in great need of true and lasting peace. When we do our cares in this life matter little because our focus is now on the Father. This is a peace which lifts us up out of this world, as it were, to experience the world to come. He had the peace that comes from being sinless before God.Ģ looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.īeing in a close relationship to God through Jesus is how we too can experience Christ’s peace. He had the peace that only comes from a right relationship to His Father. How could Jesus seemingly be more concerned for His followers than for Himself? How could He see through or past the cross to His followers? How could He not be obsessed with focusing on His suffering? He could see through the suffering that He would endure to care for His sheep one last time. Literally hours away now and His concern was for His followers. Truth Taught- Do not be troubled or afraid Jesus has given us His peace
